If you use Adobe Lightroom to manage your photos, you’ll want to be sure to download any video you shoot with the new Olympus PEN E-P3, E-PL3 and E-PM1 cameras manually. While Adobe Lightroom will download and manage video from earlier PEN cameras and the Olympus E-5, it doesn’t recognize the AVCHD video format used in this newest breed of PEN cameras.
For my workflow, I like to copy the entire folder labeled “Private” onto my hard drive before importing my photos into Lightroom. This way, I’m certain to have downloaded my video files before I erase the card, preparing it for my next shoot.
On a related note, today Adobe released the Lightroom 3.5 update and Adobe Camera Raw update for Photoshop to provide Raw support for the ORF files for the Olympus E-P3, E-PL3 and E-PM1. You can download both updates here.
